July 3, 2007--After McPhee Reservoir brought irrigation water to the drylands, beans lost acreage to alfalfa (Cortez Journal)

There are vey few dry beans being farmed in the Southwest anymore. When irrigation arrived from McPhee Reservoir beans lost acreage to alfalfa. Construction on a $15 million biodiesel plant, which will be located in Weber Industrial Park in Dove Creek, is expected to start this summer.
