At a special meeting at the Archuleta County Courthouse yesterday morning, the three County Commissioners approved — unanimously — a letter, requesting an "annual report" from the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District. The County Commissioners are asking for the annual report to clarify the PAWSD financial condition and long range plans.

The state Supreme Court has rejected a Pagosa Springs utility's second attempt to claim water for the fast-growing community, saying it needs to present better evidence of how much water it will need 50 years from now. However, the court also rejected Trout Unlimited's argument that the Pagosa district should be able to plan for population growth only through 2040.
