[EDITORIAL] State water officials and Western Slope lawmakers are looking at a water appropriations bill that could lead to a study examining the possible availability of water in Blue Mesa Reservoir for transmountain diversion to the Front Range...Any such study would be a complete waste of tax dollars until another important issue regarding the Gunnison River--the quantification of water rights for the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park--is settled...The Colorado Water Conservation Board agreed to language in a water bill that would appropriate $500,000 to study water availability in the Colorado River Basin and its tributaries.
