March 7, 2007--City looks to save water (Durango Herald)

Xeriscape may soon become a household word in Durango, as it already is in much of the dry Southwest. After languishing for two years, a city effort to develop rules for water-efficient landscape is back on track. The rules currently contemplated could, among other things, compel new development to use low-water-use landscaping, known as Xeriscaping...The draft ordinance.would promote efficient water use in landscaping, reduce water waste and create regulations governing the creation of water-efficient landscapes.
