National “Fix a Leak Week” March 15-21, 2010

National “Fix a Leak Week” is March 15-21, 2010. The event is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WaterSense program. As part of the event, Americans are asked to check and repair plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks. Doing so will help to save both water and money.

Since 2003, 86,342 citizens donated over $631,840 from their tax returns to fund 50 local water enhancement projects in Colorado. This fund is specifically for citizen watershed groups.

Historic day as Lake Nighthorse begins filling!

After decades of work, water is beginning to flow into Lake Nighthorse--a new southwest Colorado reservoir that will benefit three American Indian tribes, as well as Durango (CO) and Farmington (NM). Pumps began filling the 120,000-acre-foot Lake Nighthorse on May 4, 2009.
