November 9, 2007--Ga. congressman calls for national water panel (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
Water experts and officials from Georgia, Texas and Arizona urged Thursday that a national commission on water resources be created to tackle growing shortages nationwide. The goal is "to bring all of the knowledge we have about water to the same place," Rep. John Linder, the Georgia Republican who is leading the effort, told a House subcommittee hearing. Linder, who has proposed the commission in two previous sessions of Congress, is making his third attempt amid a historic drought in Georgia and increasing attention to water problems elsewhere.
