November 14, 2007--Salazar asks for broad review of uranium mine proposal (Reporter Herald)

Salazar wrote the Environmental Protection Agency asking it to take into account the potential effects on the large Denver Basin underground water formation, and not just the smaller Laramie-Fox Hill aquifer near the proposed mine site. Powertech Uranium Corp. has proposed a $20 million uranium mine near the farming and ranching community of Nunn. Nunn is about 20 miles north of Greeley and 70 miles north of Denver. Senator Ken Salazar has asked federal regulators to consider the impact of a proposed northern Colorado uranium mine on water sources in a broad area around the site.
