January 5, 2008--Loveland park to withstand floods (Coloradoan)
You could call Loveland's new Fairgrounds Park a flood-proof park. Not because it will stop flood waters from the Big Thompson River, which cuts through it, but because it should withstand a flood, which the Federal Emergency Management Agency apparently believes is eminent. "It's a design challenge," said Janet Meisel-Burns, a senior parks planner for the city of Loveland who is heading the project to turn the old Larimer County fairgrounds into one of Loveland's nicest parks. The $9.6 million project broke ground in September.
