January 11, 2008--Dam releases boost Gunnison River flows (Grand Junction Daily Sentinel)

Officials began releasing more water this week from Crystal Dam on the Gunnison River to make room for additional water from the winter’s increased snowfall so far this year. Basin snowpack is estimated to be 143 percent of normal so far, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said Friday. To reduce the estimated runoff volume of 780,000 acre-feet this spring between April and June, the bureau began releasing additional water downstream.
