If you've ever wondered who drinks the water from Clinton Reservoir, you might be surprised to discover that none of the water heads south to Lake County. Nearly all of it goes to municipalities in Summit County or to make resort-quality snow. Built by the Climax Molybdenum Company, the reservoir, located in Summit County, just over the Lake/Summit County line, stands as a testament to the thirst of Colorado's ski resorts. But in the case of a serious drought, rights to the reservoir's reserves revert to that old water heavyweight, Denver Water.
