January 24, 2008--Funding changes for water research winds through state legislature (Coloradoan)
A bill to improve resources for water research at Colorado State University passed the state House today on second reading. The proposed legislation eases state funding restrictions currently placed on the Colorado Water Resources Research Institute and changes the entity's name to the Colorado Water Institute. Fort Collins Democrat Rep. Randy Fischer said the bill will help develop, implement and coordinate a statewide collaboratory for water and water-related research programs in the state and will help transfer the results of CSU water research and new technologies to potential users. The research institute has been in operation in Fort Collins for more than four decades.
