May 2, 2008--Northern cities plan to build two reservoirs (Pueblo Chieftain)
A draft environmental impact statement for a $400 million plan to build two reservoirs in Northern Colorado is available for public comment. The Army Corps of engineers released the draft EIS this week for the Northern Integrated Supply Project, a proposal by the Northern Colorado Conservancy District to build Glade Reservoir northwest of Fort Collins on the Cache la Poudre River and Galeton Reservoir east of Ault on the South Platte. The public has 90 days to comment. The reservoirs would be off-channel and would improve the firm yield of 15 water providers in Larimer, Weld, Boulder and Morgan counties by about 40,000 acre-feet per year, Northern district spokesman Brian Werner said.
