June 12, 2008--Bill that would reduce Leadville flooding praised (Grand Junction Sentinel)
Two Colorado congressmen are hailing a U.S. House committee’s passage Wednesday morning of a bill intended to reduce flooding and contamination threats posed by a clogged mine drainage tunnel in Leadville. The House Natural Resources Committee unanimously approved a measure sponsored by U.S. Reps. Mark Udall, D-Eldorado Springs, and Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs. It would direct the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to fix problems created by blockages in the tunnel.
