July 14, 2008--Vision would create 470-mile water pipeline (Fort Collins Coloradoan)
Million, a Fort Collins entrepreneur, envisions building a 470-mile pipeline that would carry water from Flaming Gorge Reservoir in southeast Wyoming to Colorado's Front Range, as far south as Pueblo. The project would boost water supplies for growing communities and relieve pressure on agricultural producers to sell off their water, Million said. It also could produce more energy through hydroelectric power than it consumes. And with up to 200,000 acre-feet of water coming into the state, flows on heavily diverted waterways such as the Poudre River could be enhanced, he said. An acre-foot is enough water to meet the needs of two urban families for a year.
