July 26, 2008--Flash-flood research could improve forecasting (Boulder Daily Camera)
A new forecasting system being tested this summer could give those living near vulnerable creeks and rivers better notice of potentially deadly flash floods during intense storms. Launched by the National Center for Atmospheric Research, the Front Range Flash Flood Prediction System combines detailed atmospheric conditions with information about water flows to better predict floods along specific streams.
