September 5, 2008--North residents ask city, county for help with river (La Junta Tribune Democrat)

North La Junta needs help, and representatives from the North La Junta Conservancy District appeared in the Otero County Commissioner’s meeting room on Thursday to ask commissioners and the City of La Junta to assist in excavating the river. "It’s not a North La Junta problem," Canaday said, explaining that flooding would affect people all along the Arkansas River, including in La Junta and Otero County.
