September 7, 2008--Fort Lupton plans to remove water treatment facility (Greeley Tribune)

Some cities might look at a health department violation at their water treatment plant as a disaster. Fort Lupton saw it as an opportunity. The state health department slapped Fort Lupton with a noncompliance order in 2006. The state found that Fort Lupton's water plant had too many chlorine byproducts in the water, and while every city adds chlorine to clean its water, too many byproducts can cause cancer.
