June 17, 2010--Sen. Whitehead joins agriculture committee (Cortez Journal)
Senate Majority Leader John Morse, D-Colorado Springs, appointed Sen. Bruce Whitehead, D-Hesperus, Tuesday to chair of the Senate Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee. Sen. Whitehead will take over the chairmanship for Sen. Mary Hodge, D-Brighton, who is stepping down to serve as a member of the Joint Budget Committee. Whitehead is a Colorado native and has worked in water policy for more than 25 years. He is now the executive director of both the Southwest and Animas-La Plata water districts. In his multi-decade career in public service, he has worked with community members, local leaders, farmers, and ranchers to develop and protect the state's most precious resource.
