U.S. Forest Service Update

The U.S. Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region, has launched a new informational website (www.fs.fed.us/r2/water/) to help educate the public on vital water issues. The Forest Service has designated water as a top priority and is working to build awareness of the forest-to-faucet link through web-based public education. While national forests compose only 17 percent of the land area in eight inland West states, they deliver 62 percent of their water--making them the water towers of the inland West. Forest watersheds supply the water needs of people, plants, and animals but are under stress from bark beetles, population growth, climate change, and fires. Visit this valuable website and help to pass-the-word.
