Land use within the District includes: 45,000 acres of range and woodland; 16,000 acres of irrigated hayland and pasture; and 400 acres of dry cropland.

MISSION

The mission of the District is to provide educational, financial, and technical assistance to local land owners to: improve grazing sustainability, foster sound range management, prevent soil erosion, protect water quality and quantity, and prevent the spread of noxious weeds.

MANAGEMENT

The MCD generates funding through local, state, and federal sources.  Local citizens elect the District board to identify and address local natural resource issues.  The board involves locals and experts to help develop strategic plans. Meetings, which are open to the public, are held the second Tuesday of each month.
