Howard New ALP Manager

Russ HowardRuss Howard is the new General Manager for the Animas-La Plata Project. He and his wife came to Durango from Phoenix, Arizona where he worked for the Central Arizona Project (CAP) for 26 years. Throughout hisCAP career he was responsible for the operations, maintenance, and reliability of multiple Bureau of Reclamation structures and facilities. These included the operation of 300 miles of open aqueduct system and control structures, customer diversion points, groundwater recharge projects, four pumping plants, a pump generation plant, Waddell Dam, the headquarters facility, and the fleet. Howard is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional and a Certified Plant Maintenance Manager. As the General Manager for the Animas La Plata Operations, Maintenance, and Replacement Association (Association), he will be assisting in the administration, general operation, and maintenance of the Durango Pumping Plant and the Ridges Basin Dam.  As he stated, “I am very pleased to be a part of the Animas La Plata Project team and for the opportunity to work and live in such a beautiful place as Durango, Colorado.”
