Dolores Water Conservancy District’s McPhee Reservoir Update

Eight years after a fire tore through the McPhee Reservoir marina, the area will receive some much needed development due to the work of the McPhee Breakwater Project, Montezuma County, and grants from the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Through the 2009 Motorboat Access grant program provided by the Division of Wildlife, the county was recently awarded $150,000 to establish a breakwater near the site of the old marina. Due to a north and south running channel on the reservoir, strong winds cause dangerous boating conditions at the marina site making it difficult for boats to come in. The breakwater will be constructed this spring from a chain of mining tires.
