February 22, 2012--Durango reservoir named after Otha ‘Jack’ Rogers (Durango Herald)
The city of Durango has two reservoirs. There’s a reservoir north of town in the Weminuche Wilderness Areas and then there’s the Otha one. The city’s in-town reservoir near the water-treatment plant was officially designated Tuesday as the Otha “Jack” Rogers Reservoir after the director of public works who is retiring in March after 29½ years of service. By honoring a longtime employee, the City Council also cleared up confusion over what to call a reservoir that has been called many different names over the years, including City Reservoir, City Reservoir One, Durango Regulatory Reservoir and Terminal Reservoir.
