City of Durango Still Working on Lake Nighthorse Recreation

The City of Durango is still working on plans for the management of recreation at Lake Nighthorse. They are hoping to open the Lake for recreation by the spring of 2013. According to a Durango Herald article, officials have applied for a $300,000 grant to build an entrance and aquatic-nuisance inspection station. They are also lining up community partners. While the reservoir, located a mile and a half from downtown filled last summer, public access has been denied until an agency can be found to manage recreation there.
