La Plata-Archuleta Water District

The La Plata-Archuleta Water District (LPAWD) and the Town of Bayfield signed an agreement at the end of July to expand the Town’s water-treatment plant. Under the agreement, the LPAWD will pay for the estimated $5 million plant expansion--a more cost effective solution than building its own treatment plant. Capacity would be increased from 1.5 to 2.5 million gallons a day (the plant currently treats 900,000 gallons a day). By working together the two agencies plan to provide economical water service for both LPAWD and Bayfield users.
