Forests-to-Faucets Teacher Workshop
The WIP, in conjunction with the Mountain Studies Institute and the San Juan Mountains Association, conducted their first, pilot, Forests-to-Faucets Teacher Workshop June 26-27th. It was an opportunity for K-12 teachers to earn one continuing education credit from Adams State University. It was an extensive, hands-on field training for teachers in the Dolores/San Juan Basin to learn about their watershed. Attendees met in Durango, but drove to Silverton and followed the Animas River down. On day two they visited Lemon Reservoir and toured the Ridges Basin burn area. In addition, there was a tour of Lake Nighthorse, as well as Durango’s Water Treatment Plant.
