August 26, 2007--Isgars earn Community Heritage Award (Durango Herald)
Four generations of one of La Plata County's oldest and most respected families, along with 50 close friends, gathered Saturday at the Animas Museum in Durango to honor Art and Anne Isgar as the recipients of the second annual Community Heritage Award. Born the son of a miner in 1915 in the Ochsner Hospital, which is now the Gable House Bed and Breakfast, Art Isgar went on to be one of the county's most influential ranchers and was a founding member of the water board that lobbied for the Animas-La Plata Water Project to increase agricultural water for the southwestern portion, or "dry side," of the county underserved by the La Plata River.
