September 20, 2007--Northern Colorado's water demand may grow at least 50 percent by 2030 (Greeley Tribune)

State officials estimate that in the next 23 years, the population of the South Platte River Basin alone will nearly double. The study estimates the South Platte Basin will lose between 133,000 and 226,000 acres of irrigated cropland to meet water demands by a growing population.
