October 15, 2007--Schwarzenegger goes to bat for dams (Visalia Times-Delta)
The state Legislature last week passed one version of a water development bill that included $6.8 billion in projects, including groundwater improvement and measures to address water quality in the Sacramento-San Joaquin delta. That bill authorizes a water bond for voters next year. Schwarzenegger, however, is insisting that the Legislature also include three new dams, including a dam at Temperance Flat on the San Joaquin River, totaling about $9 billion in new projects.
