October 16, 2007--Water management plan nears completion (Alamosa News)
The state engineer has approved the official plan for the San Luis Valley's first water management subdistrict, and it is scheduled for a final public hearing before the Rio Grande Water Conservation District Board. District Judge O. John Kuenhold approved the organization of the Groundwater Management Sub-District #1, a sub-district of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District. The next step was the selection of a board of managers comprised of water users within the sub-district boundaries in the closed basin region of the Valley.
