November 26, 2015--Dry Gulch Water Storage Project update presented (Pagosa Springs Sun)

On Monday, Nov. 9, the San Juan Water Conservancy District (SJWCD) held its regular meeting, during which an update was presented on the Dry Gulch Water Storage Project.  In 2008, the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) and the SJWCD purchased 660 acres of land for the Dry Gulch reservoir.

The board of directors for the San Juan Water Conservancy District (SJWCD) voted unanimously on June 29 to accept an agreement regarding the loan restructuring for the Dry Gulch water storage project with the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), following a green light from the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) last week.

In April our WIP partner, the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD), water loss report update indicated that the district’s total water loss fell to nearly half of the prior month. Much of that improvement is contributed to a significant water break that was discovered and repaired.

The state has awarded $9.5 million in grants for 15 drinking water and wastewater systems in small communities. The Department of Public Health Environment announced Friday the grants are for planning, designing or building systems.
