October 3, 2012--Hickenlooper says better water management needed (Denver Post)

Gov. John Hickenlooper says more common sense is needed in Colorado water law to make the most of the state's resources. Hickenlooper told farmers and ranchers in Weld county he favors changes to the state's water court system because he believes the system is broken. According to the Greeley Tribune, Hickenlooper acknowledged changes will be difficult, but something needs to be done. The governor said Tuesday he wants all sides to come together to find ways for producers to legally use some of the region's abundant underground aquifer.
