Southwest Basin Roundtable

There were two roundtable meetings conducted since the last WIP newsletter in June. One was July 7th in Durango and more recently September 8th in Cortez. The July meeting provided a summary of Southwest Basin Roundtable projects. From 2007 through June, 2010 there have been a total of 23 Southwest Basin Roundtable Projects funded. The Southwest Basin Account has awarded a total of $1,049,446 during this timeframe. State funds have totaled $3,015,000, for a total of $4,064,446 for Southwest Basin projects.
At the September meeting, nine new and/or re-elected Board members were voted to fill a number of vacancies. Those members and their position include:
  • Ken Beegles (re-elected)-- Industrial Representative
  • Mike Cantebury (new to RT) -- Agricultural Representative
  • Tim Hunter (re-elected)-- Recreational Representative
  • Carrie Lile (new to RT) -- Local Domestic Water Representative
  • Meghan Maloney (new to RT) -- Environmental Representative
  • Ann Oliver (new to RT) – At-Large Representative
  • Mike Preston (re-elected)-- At-Large Representative
  • Val Valentine (new to RT) -- At-Large Representative
  • Chuck Wanner (re-elected)-- At-Large Representative
After three years of bi-monthly meetings, the Southwest Basin Roundtable has decided to go to quarterly meeting starting in 2011. The tentative schedule is: January 12th in Cortez, April 13th in Durango, July 13th in Cortez, and October 12th in Durango.
