Doris BrennanHaving served 12 years on the Animas-La Plata (ALP) Water Conservancy District Board of Directors, Doris Brennan stepped down from that position this past summer. On October 14th there was a celebration of her contributions, with more than 30 in attendance. Past and present ALP, as well as Southwestern Water Conservation District Board members were on hand, as were other colleagues, friends, and family. Wanda Cason, just back from D.C., read a letter of commendation from her new boss—Senator Udall. In addition, Ann Brown, with Senator Bennett’s office also conveyed a letter of accolades. Bruce Whitehead read an ALP resolution in recognition of Doris’ services on behalf of Board President, Bob Wolff—who was unable to attend due to family matters. Attendee comments included her, “eye for detail and memory,” sense of humor, and perseverance. As one of only two women to serve on the ALP Board since its’ inception nearly thirty years ago, one past and senior member commented, “She really cleaned that Board up.” In her words, “It was a privilege and honor to serve,” and in relation to Lake Nighthorse, “It was the biggest satisfaction of my life to see it complete.” It was a privilege and an honor to work with you, too, Doris and best wishes!
