Brennan Passes

Doris Brennan, a 12-year member of Animas-La Plata (A-LP) Water Conservancy District Board of Directors, passed away on May 20th. She was 94. Doris retired from the A-LP Board in 2009. Those who knew her commented on her “eye for detail and memory,” sense of humor, and perseverance. As one of only two women to serve on the ALP Board since its inception over thirty years ago, one past and senior member commented “she really cleaned that Board up.” Doris made frequent trips to Washington, D.C. to testify for the A-LP Project. At her retirement recognition ceremony in 2009 Doris said that “it was a privilege and honor to serve,” and in relation to Lake Nighthorse “it was the biggest satisfaction of my life to see it complete.” In addition to serving on the A-LP Board, Doris was active in the local Democratic Party and was a La Plata County commissioner from 1980 to 1988. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org or POB 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN  38148-0142. Warm condolences to all of Doris’ family and friends!
